Biden Seeks Major Boost From Hollywood A-Listers

(PrimeChronicle.org) – Democratic leaders have notoriously used celebrities to push progressive agendas. More nefariously, using celebrities to market policy may lead voters to side with the personality rather than the policy being proposed.

Cardi B famously conducted an interview with the then presidential candidate Joe Biden in 2020. Cardi B has now come out saying she cannot support President Biden due to failed progressive financial policies. Cardi B, with the use of numerous expletives, lamented Democrats’ move to cut funding by 5% across her home city. The rapper asserted that the move will hurt public resources like libraries and even police departments. Rhetorically, Cardi B asked how Biden could be talking about cuts in America’s most prominent cities while simultaneously funding two major wars. The performer said she would support Biden “no more”.

Hollywood elites Catherine Zeta-Jones and Michael Douglas are hosting a fundraiser to support Biden’s reelection. The couple reportedly donated $100,000 to the Biden Victory Fund to essentially purchase the privilege of hosting the presidential event. Entry to the event, featuring a meet and greet with the president, costs $3,300 per ticket.

In April 2024, the Biden campaign used a quote from Taylor Swift’s lyrics to insult Donald Trump, with lines meant to demean his size and stature. The lyrical insult levied against Trump came at a time when Biden was touring Florida to promote radical abortion policy. Swift has famously supported Biden. Leading up to Biden’s election in 2020 Swift published a photo on Instagram showing the star presenting a tray of cooking with Biden’s name emblazoned in blue icing. The post has since gone viral and become an established internet meme. Swift has not yet formally endorsed Biden for his 2024 reelection.

Biden has faced heavy criticism from young voters. The Biden campaign likely hopes that enlisting celebrities will encourage young voters as well as the less politically informed to vote blue in November 2024.
