RFK Jr Clarifies Abortion Stance On Social Media

(PrimeChronicles.org) – No Stranger to controversy, Robert Kennedy Junior, known as RFK, was forced to clarify his stance on abortion after he let it slip that he supports full-term abortions. RFK also asserted that if elected president he would not allow states to decide whether or not abortion is legal or not. RFK suggested he would mandate abortion laws at the federal level. RFK’s declaration likely hurt his chances among libertarians and small-government Republicans.

RFK described abortion as “bodily autonomy.” He pushed the misconception that conservative states block women in life-threatening situations from receiving appropriate medical care. He also said that conservative states prevent abortions for women with babies that would be stillborn. Democrats have long touted the lie that women are frequently forced by Republicans to carry deceased babies for the entire term of the pregnancy.

RFK took to social media where he offered a murky clarification saying that abortion should be illegal at a “certain point” during a woman’s pregnancy. The presidential hopeful did not clarify when that point would be. RFK’s vague statements and apparent anti-states-rights position further obscure RFK’s plans for abortion should he be elected president.

RFK is a long shot for the presidency, however, his presence in states like Texas could hurt Trump by pulling independent voters away from Trump. Because RFK is running without major party backing, he is forced to collect signatures from each state in order to gain a spot on the ballot. Texas requires independent candidates to get the number of signatures equal to 1% of the state’s population. This makes Texas a moving target year by year for independents. RFK needed roughly 50 thousand signatures to qualify. RFK racked up over 100,000 signatures which sparked fears that he could damage Trump’s chances of winning the state.

Trump has accused RFK of being a Democrat plant to drain Trump’s votes and force a win for President Joe Biden.
